ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Cheers rang out Thursday night at Innovative Field as Rochester native and rock star Lou Gramm took to the field. "It's amazing, oh my god. We're so excited we couldn't wait for tonight," said Angela Condello, a fan at the game. "A double opportunity you know, to come to a game, but of all people in the world...we just shared with Lou when we were in Moscow, Russia, we heard him on the radio!" The original lead singer of Foreigner and local icon got a special honor Thursday - as he sang the National Anthem at the Red Wings game against the Iowa Cubs. Lou Gramm talks with News 8 about induction into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Prior to that, fans were able to knab merchandise with Gramm's autograph. He also did an interview live on the field, talking about his love for the game of baseball, his career and his upcoming hall of fame induction. He also threw the game's first pitch. "There's nothing like it. It's awesome," said Gramm. "The feeling of being on the mound and having the locals in the stands and my family here was wonderful." Thursday, Gramm was also presented keys to the City of Rochester and Monroe County. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place Oct. 19.
