CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A pedestrian is dead after they were hit by a car on Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield County on Thursday. Just after 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to the 9300 block of Midlothian Turnpike -- near its intersection with North Arch Road -- for report of a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. According to police, a 2017 BMW 540i Sedan was moving east on Midlothian Turnpike when it hit the pedestrian, who was in the roadway. The pedestrian had life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where they later died. The victim's identity has not yet been shared, as police are contacting their next of kin. The intersection of Midlothian Turnpike and North Arch Road is closed as of the time of reporting, with police saying it will remain that way for an extended period.
