RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond's Office of Elections is gearing up for early voting in Virginia to kick off on Friday, Sept. 20.    General registrar Keith Balmer told 8News the office has been busy making sure everything is good to go with a few finishing touches. That included setting up the pollbook officer's gear and getting the exclusive "RVA Votes” stickers out and ready.  Balmer also explained the office's two ballot scanners were just given a green light by the electoral board for the City of Richmond.  “We've been testing all of the voting equipment that's going to be used for early voting to make sure that they are counting your votes correctly,” Balmer said.   The new RVA Votes stickers to be handed out this 2024 election cycle in Richmond. "And what we're doing is that we are we have ads up with QR codes on them throughout the city." Balmer said the office anticipates long lines full of people ready to make sure their voices are heard. Leaders, officials and analysts share voting information during symposium at VCU "We have 160,000 registered voters in the city, and in 2020, 80% of those voters came out for the presidential election, and that is the expectation this time, which means that, you know, we're going to be busy for the next six weeks, but we're going to be ready for it,” Balmer said.   To find the dates, times and locations for early voting in the city of Richmond, check out this website.
