NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The National Hurricane Center continues to highlight an area of potential development in the northwest Caribbean or southern Gulf over the next week at 40%. This is an area that we will be watching over the next 7-10 days. Right now there is nothing out there so it is too early to be worried about what may develop, if anything does. Lots of different models are putting a lot of different possibilities out there over the next week, which indicates how many questions there are about this scenario. What we do know is that conditions look favorable for a tropical system to develop and intensify in this region. It's not a guarantee, but is looking more likely. At this point all we can do is watch and wait. Any impacts to our area will come down to when and where any development takes place. Continue to be prepared and have supplies and plans ready should something move our way again. As always stay with WGNO on air and online for the latest.
