POINSETT COUNTY, Ark. — A 62-year-old Arkansas man is accused of messaging more than 100 accounts on Facebook, asking to have sex with underage girls as young as 7. John McGhee of Marked Tree is charged with two counts each of Internet Stalking and Sexual Solicitation of a Minor. He was arrested Wednesday. John McGhee (Poinsett County SO) According to an affidavit by a Poinsett County detective, the investigation started in July after someone contacted law enforcement after finding messages on a cell phone that possibly belonged to McGhee. Authorities say McGhee told people he was looking for girls age 15 or younger for sex. In one message sent in June, McGhee allegedly asked a female about her children, one of whom was 7, and described graphic sexual acts with the child. In another message, he allegedly offered to pay $350 for sex with a 10-year-old, authorities say. A detective with the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office stated McGhee had messaged more than 100 Facebook accounts of females. It was determined the accounts were fake. McGhee admitted to sending the messages, said Capt. Ryan Price with the sheriff's office. "He didn't give us a whole lot on motive," Price said. "He did say he has not acted on any of the requests. We believe it's more of not having the ability to." He says this is a stark reminder for any parent to monitor what their child is doing on the internet. "If they are old enough to have a phone then you need to be involved on what they are doing on that phone," Price said.
