(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Cool Science Fair Festival kicks off Saturday, Sept. 28, and the community is invited to come see and learn from different events designed to demonstrate different sciences. Sept. 28 will be the first out of 16 days where individuals will be able to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) activities and see how they apply to real life. The festival kicks off with Carnival Day on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs located at 1420 Austin Bluffs Parkway. During Carnival Day, there will be aerospace demonstrations from the U.S. Air Force Academy snakes, lizards, fish, and birds from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and Colorado Parks and Wildlife, where children can learn more about Colorado's biology. There will be other demonstrations on site such as robots. The Carnival Day is free for science enthusiasts of all ages. Pre-registration is encouraged. “The Carnival Day and Cool Science Festival is a good time,” said Marc Straub, executive director. “But it’s fun with a very serious purpose — getting kids interested in science today to develop tomorrow’s workforce. Technology is changing rapidly. To keep up, we need workers who will be the next generation of scientists, engineers, mathematicians.” Although the Carnival is mostly for kids, there are events for attendees of all ages, including a beer science tour at Bristol Brewing that caps off with a Giant Tesla Coil demo. There will also be space shows, and attendees can try out 3D printing at Challenger Colorado.
