BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- You can't head to the fair without a little style. This year it's hair, a good hat and a good pair of boots. First, you have to head over to Sip and Style salon and start with your fair hair. "The hair just fits everything and puts everything together," said Sip and Style's Giselle Barajas. "If your hair is done, you look done up." For some, there is only two style options. "It's either that 90's blow out look or beach waves," said Hunter Rodriguez, as she gets her hair washed at the salon. Owner Shelly Guss said the shop has been booming getting clients ready for fair fun. "They just love their blowouts, nice beach waves and they're off to have fun, eat the fair food," said Guss. "Luckily for us, we're a getting ready service, so we're actually getting them prepared to go there to look their best and feel their best." "Everyone who comes in here looking for outfits for the fair," said Josie Blevins. "They either 100% have hats or boots." You can even find bedazzled denim shorts, accessories and custom hats. "I think people come in here and they're like we want to shop local rather than buying from other websites and shipping it, local is easier and special too," said Blevins. Then, you have to head to the Emporium Western Store for a quality pair of boots. "Every year the fairs a big uptick for us," said President Stephen Goldwater. Goldwater said square-toed cowboy boots are the most popular right now and customers are filling the store for all their fair needs. "A lot of our customers that we only see two or three times a year, that have been coming for years to load up, we always see them during the fair so that's really nice," said Goldwater. Once you find boots and an outfit, fair attendees have been racing to get a good hat, according to steamer Ronda Lemons. "They know that's the time to really dress up and wear the cowboy attire," said Lemons. "So they always say the hat sets it off." When you find one you like, then you have make sure to get the hat steamed. Then, you're all ready to go the Kern County Fair, dressed by Bakersfield's best.
