BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Tuesday was a sensory-friendly time for those who need a quieter space to enjoy the Kern County Fair and all it has to offer. Bakersfield ARC let 17's Cecilia Trevino tag along with their group and for the day. Kristal Gregory is a member of Bakersfield ARC, she enjoyed the fair to the fullest. Special Friends Day brought a slower-paced environment for people who might have sensory issues. Although there are some things not too exciting for Gregory, like the rides. Businesses are booming while getting you ready for the Kern County Fair There are other things she's eager to see. "We're going to go see the animals," said Gregory. Even helping a friend out. "Watch out! She's trying to pet the goat," said Gregory, petting a goat with her friend, "There you go. It's friendly!" There's a place for everyone at the Kern County Fair. "We have a group that works year-round, actually three groups, so we do the landscaping and also janitorial." said Jeremiah Heitman, Vice President of Bakersfield ARC, "So, we have nine clients employed under the contract with Kern County Fair." In the end, life is all about the special friends we make.
