BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- More than a dozen deputies sworn to serve and protect the community got a promotion Thursday morning in a ceremony hosted by the Kern County Sheriff's Office. The promotion ceremony kicked off at the Kern County Sheriff's Auditorium in Bakersfield at 9 a.m., Thursday. A total of 18 deputies are being recognized for their dedication to the community, with 13 of them being promoted to positions such as: Detentions Senior Deputy, Senior Deputy, Sergeant, and the rank of Lieutenant. ‘Brews on the Mountain’ set for Saturday, Sept. 21 "They were able to stabilize a chaotic scene, provide outstanding medical care, and assist in a criminal investigation," said Deputy Chief Cindy Cisneros. "Though they were not required to stop for this accident they did and provided assistance to all involved. There is little doubt the deputies quick thinking and fast response to the medical emergency was a factor in saving the driver's life." There were 4 deputies awarded bureau commendations for providing life saving measures to a woman pinned in her vehicle from a head-on crash with a DUI driver May 6th, 2024.
