PENFIELD, N.Y. (WROC) — According to its website, the Arbors at Penfield, a massive mixed-use development in Penfield, will begin leasing in the winter. Floor plans for lease include two townhome models and a ranch. The goal of the project, according to a town spokesperson in 2022, was to create a vibrant, walkable community. The project, which is at the corner of Route 250 and Atlantic Avenue, was met with traffic concerns in 2022, and work started in 2023. The plot is slated to contain 42,000 sq. ft. of commercial space and about 750 living spaces. Town supervisors have told News 8 that mixed-use developments (residential and commercial space) are becoming more popular, as it is believed these reduce sprawl and traffic. When Arbors was first approved, construction was expected to take four years.
