FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A person who ran out onto Highway 180 was struck and killed on Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP says around 10:45 a.m. the person was killed after they ran across Highway 180 at the Highway 41 interchange directly into the path of an approaching vehicle. Investigators say the driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian. The pedestrian died at the scene. CHP says the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol and drugs were not considered a factor in the investigation. The identity of the person killed or the driver involved have not been officially released.
