Ethan Jennings, 21, was charged in Adams County District Court with first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault and four crime of violence sentence enhancers, according to court records.
At around 1 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, police responded to a shooting in the 7300 block of Oneida Drive, near Adams City and Lester Arnold high schools in north metro Denver.
When police arrived, they found three gunshot victims — two women and one man — according to a news release from Colorado’s 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
All three were taken to the hospital, where one woman — later identified as 20-year-old Makayla Lawrence — died from her injuries, DA officials said. The other two victims survived.
Information about Jennings’ alleged motive and connection to the three victims was not available Thursday.
