NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – PNM has provided $1 million in funding to support the PNM Power Pros program in three New Mexico high schools. The program is a partnership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 611 union to help train students to become electric utility professionals. PNM says it plans to expand the program into more high schools. "PNM Power Pros is an innovative, first of its kind program that includes classroom teaching and hands-on training," PNM President and CEO Don Tarry said in a release. Students who complete the program receive career and technical education course credits and OSHA 10 certification.
