RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A festive musical is coming to Richmond's Dominion Energy Center this holiday season, telling the story of the Herdmans, "the worst [kids] in the world," and how they hijack their Sunday school's Christmas pageant.
'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical,' presented by Cadence Theatre, will run at the Dominion Energy Center's Libby S. Gottwald Playhouse from Dec. 13 to 22.
"The Herdmans, the unruly kids known as the worst in the world, turn the small town upside down when they crash Sunday school and demand roles in the Christmas pageant," said the Dominion Energy Center of the musical's plot. "With biting humor and unexpected twists, they rewrite the classic Christmas story in their own unique way. As the town panics and calls for the pageant's cancellation, reluctant director Grace Bradley and the Reverend must find a way to help the community see the true meaning of Christmas through the eyes of the Herdmans."
Southern Kitchen sets a date for its grand opening at Stony Point Fashion Park
The musical was created by Jahnna Beecham and Malcolm Hillgartner and is an adaptation of a play by Barbara Robinson.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20. You can purchase them online.
