RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The beloved restaurant, Southern Kitchen, has set a date for its grand opening at Stony Point Fashion Park. After a complete remodel to its new location, Southern Kitchen has announced that its Stony Point Fashion Park grand opening will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. According to a spokesperson for Stony Point, the anticipated move presents Southern Kitchen's genuine Southern cuisine to a diverse dining location. Southern Kitchen was founded in 2019 in Richmond's historic Jackson Ward neighborhood by Owner and Chef Shane Roberts-Thomas. The restaurant is said to become a gem at Stony Point Fashion Park -- offering an extraordinary dining experience mixed with Southern charm and elegance. "Southern Kitchen is more than just a restaurant – it’s a celebration of Southern hospitality and the rich culinary heritage of my family," said Roberts-Thomas. "I am excited to welcome the Richmond community to our new location at Stony Point Fashion Park, where guests can enjoy our heartfelt recipes in a beautifully remodeled setting." The menu features signature Southern dishes like shrimp and grits, blackened catfish and fried chicken -- inspired by recipes passed down from family traditions. All of the dishes are said to reflect Chef Roberts-Thomas' efforts to preserve Southern cooking while adding creative twists to each dish.
