TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) — A Taunton man pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute oxycodone, according to acting U.S. Attorney Joshua Levy. John Campbell, 41, was indicted in August 2023 for trafficking oxycodone pills across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts between July 2022 and June 2023. Levy said Campbell sold pills to an undercover agent on four separate occasions and was overheard discussing prices and quantities during intercepted calls. Police seized oxycodone pills, along with a scale and rubber bands, during a search of his home last July. Prosecutors said Campbell also received pills from his co-conspirator and co-defendant, Kenneth Veiga, who pleaded guilty earlier this year. Veiga was sentenced in July to 60 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Campbell faces up to 20 years in prison, at least three years and up to life of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million. His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2025.
