EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) — Water is leaking down multiple streets in one Edmond neighborhood, with algae now growing and bugs flying around. Neighbors said it's been going on for months and they just want it fixed. "We've just been dealing with water bubbling out of the ground for the last several weeks," said Paige Conner who's concerned. LOCAL NEWS: City of Edmond receives funding for mental health initiatives "It's been throughout the whole neighborhood," said Carlotta Malony, who's a neighbor in the area. Neighbors are frustrated and starting to worry it could get worse. "Our mom came out to check the mail directly in front of the mailboxes... Just a river of water that has algae growing because it's been there so long and she almost slipped and fell," said Conner. "They said if it wasn't gushing, that it wasn't a priority right now. It wasn't on our side where we're paying for the water, it's on the city side. So we're not being billed for all this extra water that's going around," said Malony. The City of Edmond said they've heard the calls and are aware of the situation. They sent a response when asked about the repairs. The requests have been sent to a contractor to address the issues but with 17 reports in that area to check and address it takes time. They are part of a high volume of leak reports we are seeing this summer. Reports are prioritized based on impact and addressed as soon as possible. Here is a link with some info on our website. "Once the winter comes around, if this hasn't been fixed, then we're going to have a nice little ice streak all the way around the neighborhood," said Jerry Arnold, a neighbor.
