HONOLULU (KHON2) - A show filmed and based right here on Oahu's North Shore is coming to your television. "Rescue: HI-Surf" premieres Sunday and stars some familiar faces. Fox has picked up 19 episodes of the new show, and even plans to air a special episode following the Super Bowl in February. We caught up with some of the cast members on Wakeup 2Day on what viewers can expect. Action-packed lifeguard drama filmed on North Shore airing Fall 2024 "We are actually telling the story of the actual lifeguards in Hawaii. The rescues you see on the show are based on real rescues that have happened. The beautiful thing about this story, it's one of the Hawaiian stories that's yet to be told," said Robbie Magasiva, who plays Harlan "Sonny" Jennings. We were deep in it for two weeks straight and we were working with best of the best," said Arielle Kebbel, who plays Emily "Em" Wright. "You know the goal was to become certified as a lifeguard. And learn what it's like not just in the water, but also on the sand, on the ATVs. You named it, we trained it. The goal for everyone was to be as authentic as possible."
