NEW HOLSTEIN, Wis. (WFRV) - A chemistry experiment at the New Holstein High School caused a large response from local fire departments and the school to be evacuated on Thursday morning.

Crews arrived at the high school around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday and said that the building had already been evacuated. Additional agencies were called to the incident due to the potential risk and size of the building, officials say.
Once crews were in the building, it was discovered that the smoke was likely due to a chemistry experiment that was performed under a ventilation hood in the high school.
Shortly after, the smoke was cleared from the building, allowing students and staff to return to their daily routines.
