BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — One freight carrier is turning the expression "keep on trucking" into a reality for not only their company but the North Dakota community at large. On Thursday, Saia announced two new freight terminals in North Dakota. These new terminals are just as much a celebration of the company's 100th anniversary as they are a way to meet North Dakotans where they are to strengthen the local economy. "As we continue to celebrate our 100th year in business, each new terminal opening demonstrates our ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional service to both new and existing customers," Saia Executive Vice President of Operations, Patrick Sugar, says in a press release. Saia is a less-than-truckload, or LTL, carrier that has a network of close to 23,000 tractors and trailers across the United States. Act now: Get your shots for respiratory infections LTL carriers are meant to combine small shipments into one trailer, which officials say not only improves shipment efficiency but also saves shippers and truckload carriers a great deal of money. Saia currently delivers more than 30,000 shipments a day across the country, having close to 192 terminals nationwide — with its two newest additions landing in Bismarck and Fargo. "These new terminals are not just an investment for this quarter or even this year - they’re long-term investments that will drive value for our customers and shareholders for years to come," said Sugar. Due to the cost-effective nature of LTL carriers, those with the company say these two new terminals will give the boost North Dakota's economy needs right now. Goods that are shipped via LTL carriers are wide-sweeping and can positively impact a multitude of industries, including food and hospitality, construction, pharmacies and hospitals, and more.
