Student performance data released for 202324 school year

BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — New numbers have been released by the State, which are giving us an idea of student's academic performance here in North Dakota.
The numbers are for last year from "Insights North Dakota".
The state looked at several areas, including enrollment numbers, and student proficiency in two key areas. One area is English, Language, and Arts, and the other is Math.
The numbers show that in the Bismarck School District, students scored higher than the state's average in both those areas.
But in the Minot School District, students scored lower than the state's average in the same categories.
Based on this annual data, North Dakota selects schools for Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) in accordance with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). To learn more about these, click here. Schools selected for this are awarded grants to improve in areas where there are performance gaps. This year, Bismarck's Simle Middle School has been identified as a TSI school.
Switching off: Dealing with the work-life balance
Bismarck Public Schools also reviews the data and generates a strategy map for every school in the district, outlining its improvement initiatives.
Some of the state's overall goals include increasing the number of students who show reading proficiency in third grade; reducing the achievement disparity for students with disabilities, students in poverty, and Native American students; and increasing the number of students who graduate Choice Ready.
The latter has gone up from 44.7% in the 2020-21 school year to 70.6% in 2023-24. The goal is to ensure that all students graduate Choice Ready by 2030.
