BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office arrested a man accused of multiple peeping Tom and home invasion attempts that happened over recent weeks. He reportedly was caught on video committing a sex act while looking into a local residence of two women. Deputies arrested him on Thursday, Sept. 19. Ryan Devonta Williams, 32, of Baton Rouge, was charged with two counts of criminal trespass, two counts of peeping tom, and two counts of obscenity. According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, he was arrested in the 1800 block of Brightside Drive after a short foot pursuit. The investigation stemmed from an incident in late August and led deputies to talk to the Baton Rouge Police Department about potentially related reports filed within the city limits. According to EBRSO, on Aug. 23, two women "were sitting in their living room when one of the victims received a security camera notification on her cell phone." In the footage, she saw an unknown man in her fenced-in backyard. The two women then reportedly saw the man exposing himself outside their window and committing a sex act. 1 taken to hospital in critical condition after shooting on Coursey Boulevard, officials say The man then left the area. EBRSO said they saw the security video from the residence in the 900 block of Shadow Bluff Drive. It reportedly showed the man walking across the backyard and exposing himself at the window. The women, who are LSU students, could be heard screaming in the video, according to the affidavit. As the investigation unfolded, EBRSO learned about another incident in the 9300 block of Asoka Avenue on Monday, Sept. 16. A man exited a damaged silver car and tried to enter a residence after looking through a window. He left after not being able to get into the dwelling. Deputies found out the man "had committed a theft at the residence before attempting to enter the residence," according to the affidavit. The victim reportedly told detectives a man "victimized multiple other females, including making entry into a female's home," according to the affidavit. They also said photos of the man were seen on social media about these incidents and noticed he was wearing the same clothes as in the security video. The Baton Rouge Police Department was investigating potentially related incidents. On Monday, Sept. 16, they looked into multiple reports from an apartment complex on Ben Hur Drive. At one, the man reportedly left the scene after looking into a window. At another, a woman woke up to a man staring at her while she was in her bedroom and left when she screamed. An unidentified man also tried to get into another apartment but was not successful. EBRSO said security video from multiple scenes showed that he "matched the suspect attempting to enter the Asoka Avenue victim's residence." Through further investigation, detectives searched public safety cameras for a damaged vehicle. They found one that matched. It was registered to Williams, and EBRSO found that his Louisiana driver's photograph showed the same man seen on video at the residence on Asoka Avenue. Two photo lineups were subsequently shown to the two women from Shadow Bluff Drive. They separately identified Williams as the man who exposed himself to them outside their window. His vehicle was also seen on camera "in the area of Shadow Bluff Drive a few minutes after the victim's security camera notification," according to the affidavit. Records show that Williams was previously convicted of simple burglary and possession of MDMA.
