BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services announced that applications for the state's SUN Bucks program will close on Friday, Sept. 20. The application period for phase three of SUN Bucks, which is an initiative to support low-income families by providing grocery-buying benefits while students do not get school meals, started on Monday, Aug. 19. DCFS said in a news release, "This program is a critical part of Louisiana's efforts to ensure that every child has access to nutritious food year-round." According to DCFS, each eligible child will receive a $120 EBT card which must be used 122 days after getting the card.
