BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A man has been found guilty of leading deputies and police on a pursuit in the McFarland and Wasco areas in September 2023. Officials with the Kern County District Attorney's Office say Arturo Saldivar was driving a stolen vehicle on Sept. 20, 2023, when a license plate reader alerted an officer with the McFarland Police Department that the vehicle was stolen. When the officer attempted to contact Saldivar he fled at a high rate of speed, according to officials. In the chase, Saldivar reached speeds of 95 mph and drove in the opposite traffic lanes. ‘Tastes of Downtown’ announces finalists, culinary event happening Sept. 26 at the Iron Lilly The officer ultimately ended the pursuit due to losing sight of Saldivar.
