AUSTIN (KXAN) -- We are pushing our luck with highs heading for 99º today and tomorrow. Easily these highs could be triple digits, which wouldn't feel much hotter, but would not be a moral victory. We'll find mostly clear skies this evening giving way to some patchy low clouds by morning. Overnight lows will be unusually warm and in the middle 70s. Early clouds on Friday should give way to a mostly sunny late morning and afternoon. Highs will head very close to triple digits for, potentially, the last time this year. Expected highs on Friday This weekend will still be hot, but temperatures will start to come down as high pressure weakens overnight. We'll be in the upper 90s on Saturday and mid-90s on Sunday. Both days should have more sun than clouds and both days should stay dry. Weekend forecast Finally a temporary weakening in high pressure should bring rain chances back to Central Texas for the first few days of next week. Right now our highest rain chances (20%) are on Tuesday and Wednesday, which is nothing to get too excited about. We should be able to be more specific on rain timing as we get into the weekend. Potential for some showers next week Benefitting all of us will be the lessening heat, which should bring temperatures down into the low 90s by the middle of next week. Tracking the Tropics A broad area of low pressure has potential to become further organized in the Caribbean into next week. Chances for development are now up to 40%.
