Sheriff’s detectives are investigating after a 23-year-old man was fatally shot in Lemon Grove Wednesday night.
Several people called 911 around 10:55 p.m. after hearing gunfire on Dain Street near Elkhorn Street, sheriff’s officials said. Deputies arrived a short time later and began treating the shooting victim until San Miguel Fire Department personnel arrived and took over.
The victim died before he could be taken to a hospital. His name was not released. He is a Lemon Grove resident and was killed near his home, said sheriff’s homicide Lt. Michael Krugh.
No information about what led up to the shooting or a suspect description was released.
