PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD) is investigating after high school students were robbed at gunpoint while waiting for the school bus on Thursday morning. The student was not injured. PGPD told DC News Now that the incident happened around 6:40 a.m., at the intersection of Livingston Road and Xander Street, in Accokeek. This was just minutes before the bus was scheduled to arrive. Prince George's County police officers were on the scene ofshots fired at a school bus stop on Sept. 19. (Tosin Fakile/DC News Now) Details remain limited; however, someone fired a shot into the air and took the student's shoes, according to witnesses. Prince George’s County Police Department hiring hundreds of new officers One mom told DC News Now that four kids, including her 14-year-old son, were waiting for the school bus. She said when her son saw the car pull up, he took off running. "Very shaken up, heart racing. He had to jump a fence. It's just a lot," said the mom. "I am always telling him to stay ready, have everything ready, be aware of your surroundings and stuff like that. So I think that's why his instincts kicked in pretty quickly, just pay attention because you never know. It kind of paid off today." DC News Now obtained ring camera video showing the moments the gun went off. In the video below, you can see the students running from the bus stop in the top right corner. At this time, the mom believes the shoes that were taken were by the luxury brand, Lanvin. The designer shoes typically range between $550 to $4,000, according to the website. The Prince George's County Public Schools released the following statement: The safety of students is of the utmost importance.  This morning, a group of Gwynn Park High school students were waiting for the bus at the area of Zander and Livingston roads when they were approached by several individuals in a blue Hyundai. One of the individuals exited the vehicle and produced a handgun. The students fled. Two students were pursued by the individuals and some of their property was taken. The Prince George’s County Police quickly responded and they are actively investigating the incident.  Fortunately, no students were injured in the incident. PGCPS will continue to work closely with authorities to support the investigation. Students are reminded to always stay aware of their surroundings and if possible travel in groups. This is a developing story.
