LEMON GROVE, Calif. ( FOX 5/KUSI) -- A homicide investigation is underway in Lemon Grove after one person was shot and killed in the middle of a residential neighborhood Wednesday night, authorities said. According to the San Diego Sheriff's Department, multiple calls came in shortly before 11 p.m. reporting gunfire in the 2200 block of Dain Court at Elkhorn Street. Family demands justice after man stabbed, shot in East Village Responding deputies found a 23-year-old Black man in the street with what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound to his torso. Authorities began life-saving measures while waiting for medics to arrive. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Lt. Mike Krugh spoke with FOX 5/KUSI around 5 a.m. Thursday morning, explaining where authorities are in the investigation so far. "Right now, we don't have any suspect information. We've been out here for about three hours," said Lt. Krugh. "We're just collecting evidence, talking to witnesses, canvassing the area." Homicide investigators are working to gather more information to determine the circumstances and motivation behind the deadly shooting. For those who live in the immediate area, deputies will be escorting residents out of the crime scene throughout the morning as they continue their investigation.
