POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Powhatan's Festival of the Grape returns on Oct. 5, celebrating 21 years of fun. Photo by: Brandon Hambright The 21st Annual Powhatan Festival of the Grape will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. Tickets can be purchased here. The festival will go on whether it rains or shines. “As we raise our glasses at this year’s Wine Festival, we’re celebrating more than just great wine," said Nicole Riley, Executive Director of Powhatan Chamber of Commerce. "For 21 years, the festival has brought our community together to enjoy local flavor and create lasting memories with neighbors and friends. It’s a toast to everything that makes our region special.” According to Powhatan's Chamber of Commerce, the festival will be bigger and better for its 21st year featuring local wines, spirits, cider, beer, mead, as well as food, music and handmade arts & craft products. Festival guests can expect live music from the following local bands: RJ Marshall Band Dukes of Haggard East of Hollywood Shades of Gray "I was lucky enough to attend the inaugural Festival of the Grape back in 2003," said Joy Matkowsky, Powhatan Chamber member, Powhatan Real Estate Settlements. "Back then it was a quaint Wine and Craft event, still in the Village but much more spread out and definitely not as well attended. Having only missed two of the festivals since its inception, I have watched it blossom into one of the premier wine and spirits festivals in Virginia. Powhatan County and the Powhatan Chamber of Commerce should be very proud of this amazing event! I can't wait for October 5th so I can experience it all over again."
