PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation reminds travelers to prepare for the closing of the I-95 southbound bridge over Elmwood Avenue this Friday.
The southbound bridge will close the two right lanes starting 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20th, near Exit 34, the Elmwood Avenue and Route 1 off-ramp.
RIDOT suggest motorists use alternate routes such as Route 10 and I-295, and plan additional time for travel.
Northbound, the left lane will be closed.
Last weekend, RIDOT demolished and rebuilt half of the southbound bridge, and will replace the other half over this weekend.
RIDOT said they plan on finishing construction and reopening all lanes by 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23th.
