(WAVY) -- A popular new Netflix true-crime documentary series called "Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter" features Norfolk, and the same killer from the Emmy-winning WAVY series "Catching Kathleen's Killer." The two-part series, which includes shots of the USS Wisconsin and other parts of Norfolk, focuses on the case of Aundria Bowman, who was murdered by her adoptive father Dennis Bowman in Michigan when she was 14. Dennis Bowman had insisted for decades that Aundria, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances from their home in 1989, ran away. He eventually confessed to the murder after her remains were found on the Bowmans' property in 2020. "Into the Fire" tells the thrilling story of the decade leading up to Dennis Bowman's confession and eventual conviction, through the perspective of Aundria's biological mother, Cathy Terkanian, who had placed her for adoption in 1974. Terkanian later learned in 2010 about Aundria's disappearance, and set out on the long path to find justice. https://twitter.com/netflix/status/1834321085656940603 A key breakthrough in the case came in 2019, when Dennis Bowman was charged in the 1980 rape and murder of 25-year-old Kathleen O’Brien Doyle in Norfolk. Months later, authorities charged Bowman with murder in Aundria's case.
