LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Thursday! We are tracking summer-like temperatures returning as you close out the week and head into the weekend. Afternoon highs today will spike into the mid-to-upper 80s, before hitting around 90 for your Friday and Saturday. There is a small chance we sneak in a stray shower or two this afternoon, but most locations will remain dry. Less fog is expected overnight tonight and into your Friday morning. Temperatures on Friday will be peaking in the upper 80s and low 90s for most locations and everyone should stay dry. The weekend will be an unseasonably hot one across the region. Upper 80s and low 90s are in the forecast once again on Saturday. We’ve added an isolated chance of a few showers & a storm or two for Saturday afternoon. Most areas will once again stay dry but some rain can’t be ruled out. The heat lingers into your Sunday as well. Sunday has another isolated rain chance, mainly across northern Kentucky. Rain chances return by the middle of next week as the pattern turns more active. A few different systems could be tracking across the Ohio Valley bringing daily rain and storm chances beginning late Monday into Tuesday. The certainty of the forecast drops by the end of the week. There is an increasing chance of a tropical system entering the Gulf of Mexico. Our forecast may be dependent on the exact track of this system and how it interacts with the systems impacting our area. It’s something we will be keeping our eyes on, but thankfully it does look like some beneficial rain is on the way next week.
