It's a hot close to the summer season. Temperatures the next few afternoons will peak ~90°. That's more than 10° above average, which is set at 77° for the date in Indianapolis. We need the rain as the list of Burn Bans continue to grow in Indiana. 53 counties are now under an active burn ban. The latest drought monitor was updated this morning and as expected, it's much worse. The entire state is now under abnormally dry to drought conditions. Drought has expanded from covering 51% of the state last week to 72% of the state this week. We could see a few spotty showers on Friday but confidence in that is low. Our air column has been so dry but we will have an upward trend in this area in the coming days. This increases confidence that some parts of central Indiana will see rain Sunday and Monday. These showers will be widely scattered in nature and could include a few thunderstorms. Stay tuned as we continue to monitor these much needed rain chances.
