Whitsett man charged with murder in Robeson County shooting

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A Whitsett man accused in a fatal shooting is now in custody, according to the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.
Alvino R. Wilson, 45, of Whitsett, was wanted on charges of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The charges are in relation to the death of Shaunta Jones, 36, of Fayetteville.
On Monday around 12:15 a.m., Robeson County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Britt Road in St. Pauls when they were told someone had been shot.
Arriving deputies found Jones dead at the scene.
The case is being investigated by the RCSO Homicide Division. The Fayetteville Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, GCSO and North Carolina SBI (Northern Piedmont District) are assisting with the investigation.
Wilson was booked into the Robeson County Jail at 6:58 a.m. on Thursday.
