(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — A spokesperson with Ellicott School District 22 confirmed to FOX21 News on Thursday morning, Sept. 19 that the district was on lockdown but that all students were safe. During an unrelated press briefing on Thursday, Sergeant Kurt Smith confirmed that the El Paso County Sheriff's Office was aware of the incident and is investigating. "So we were just made aware of an issue going on at Ellicott, there is no actual credible threat to the school itself," Sgt. Smith added. "Based on some situations that they are currently investigating, it does not have to do with any safety of a student or a teacher or a parent or anybody involved. They are acting out of extreme caution and releasing their students today." FOX21 News will continue to follow this developing story and will update this article as information comes in.
