GREAT FALLS, S.C. — Police say a 2-year-old was tragically killed in a shooting in Chester County.
Investigators say the shooting happened on Washington Street in Great Falls on September 18th. According to Great Falls Police Chief Olen Martin, “The investigation at this point is focused on how an unsecured firearm was accessed.”
Agents from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s Crime Scene and Child Fatality Unit responded to the scene, and a joint on-going investigation with the Great Falls Police Department is currently underway.
A 7-year-old family member has been placed in emergency protective custody of the South Carolina Department of Social Services pending further investigation, according to a news release.
