A month after his arrest for domestic battery, actor Michael Madsen has filed for divorce from wife DeAnna, accusing her of long-time abuse and driving their late son to suicide. The “Reservoir Dogs” actor, 66, cited irreconcilable differences in the divorce petition he filed Wednesday, TMZ reports. Madsen is also trying to get a domestic violence restraining order against DeAnna. The “Kill Bill” star says he and his third wife, whom he wed in 1996, separated in January 2022 — the same month 26-year-old Hudson died by suicide. Madsen further alleged that DeAnna’s “neglect, drinking and alcoholism” pushed Hudson to take his own life. He said many of his own battles — including last month’s arrest, a 2012 charge for felony child endangerment and two DUIs — were exacerbated by the couple’s “abusive, co-dependent, and toxic relationship.” Madsen was also charged with trespassing in the weeks after Hudson’s death. The L.A. County District Attorney declined to charge the actor, citing insufficient evidence. The “Donnie Brasco” actor was arrested in the early hours of Aug. 17, after authorities say he pushed DeAnna and locked her out of their Malibu home. He was charged with domestic battery and released later that morning, having posted $20,000 bail. A rep for the actor told Variety that the incident “was a disagreement between Michael and his wife, which we hope resolves positively for them both.” Hudson was 26 when he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, as the City and County of Honolulu Department of the Medical Examiner confirmed to the Daily News in late January 2022. “We are heartbroken and overwhelmed with grief and pain at the loss of Hudson,” the Madsen family told U.K. outlet Metro at the time. “His memory and light will be remembered by all who knew him. We ask for privacy and respect during this difficult time. Thank you.”
