PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Opening statements are expected in Berkshire Superior Court in the Michael Cook murder trial, as he’s accused of killing his wife, Charli Cook. North Adams man indicted for wife’s 2019 murder Michael Cook Sr. of Chase Avenue in North Adams is accused of brutally attacking his wife 41-year-old Charli Cook on July 11, 2019. She was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where she died due to her injuries nearly five months later. According to Charli Ann (Gould) Cook's obituary, she died on December 1, 2019. Charlie graduated from McCann Technical School in North Adams and worked as a CNA at a nursing home in Williamstown. Mr. Cook was arrested and charged in July 2019 after the assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and assault and battery on a family or household member. Those charges have since changed after his wife's death. A grand jury in Berkshire Superior Court indicted Mr. Cook in October 2020 for the murder of Charli Cook stemming from the grisly attack. Michael Cook is a registered level 3 sex offender in Massachusetts, which means he is classified at a high risk of re-offending. In 2011 he was convicted of three counts of rape of a child with force and one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 years of age. The Commonwealth is being represented by attorneys Rachael Eramo, Jocelyn Ann McGrath, and Amy Winston. The attorneys listed for Mr. Cool include Patrick Nicoletti and Mary Anne Stamm, both with offices in Springfield.
