Real Republicans know Trump is bad for us all Manhattan: I was so happy to learn that Liz Cheney is supporting Vice President Kamala Harris for president of the United States in November, less than two months away! As if that bit of good news wasn’t enough, her father, Dick Cheney, the 46th vice president of the United States, is taking his daughter’s lead and also supporting and voting for Harris. All of this is overwhelming due to the fact that both are staunch Republicans and the definition of conservative! Some pundits are commenting that it won’t make much of a difference. I beg to differ, especially due to the fact that Donald Trump will be a danger to our democracy, with no real respect for the Constitution! This is a man who puts himself first — a criminal, a liar beyond reproach who is banking on winning the presidency to avoid any possible jail time or confinement. I think that by now, the general public has to know all of this! I can’t fathom how someone can look at this situation head-on and feel that Trump will take the country where it needs to go. I am not going to repeat the words of Dick Cheney and the statement he made about why he decided to vote for Harris. How about doing some red-flag homework and go online and find his reason for voting for her? That is all you need to read to convince yourself why you should vote for Harris on Nov. 5! Michael DeSouza Welcome wailing Woodstock, N.Y.: So, Diaper Donnie screams that he hates Taylor Swift. I’m sure she welcomes it with open arms! The era of the woman is just beginning — and not a moment too soon! Suzanne Hayes Kelly Clear criminality Little Egg Harbor, N.J.: No matter what party you support, how can any American vote for a 34-count convicted felon? This is a fact. Nothing else counts. Pure and simple. So, the choice is yours. Georgia Dolack Uncivil opposition Bellerose: Donald Trump was the victim of a second assassination attempt as he was playing golf in Florida. This should not have happened again. A man named Ryan Wesley Routh armed with an SKS-style rifle allegedly was going to kill Trump, but thanks to quick actions by Secret Service agents, it was spoiled. All this hate and rhetoric has caused this bias against Trump. If we disagree with a political candidate, violence should not be the outcome. I know someone who disagrees with me because of my support of Trump and calls me an idiot, and that is so sad. This latest assassination attempt I find to be a nefarious, egregious action by an individual who is not playing with a full deck and needs professional help. I proudly support Trump and JD Vance and will vote for them. Frederick Robert Bedell Jr. Fat chance Richmond Hill: Your story of a poster made by an Arizona Trumper (“Sorry about ‘pet eating,’ ” Sept. 15) shows former President Trump holding two kittens while running from two alleged Haitian “illegals.” Fantasy, obviously. Has he ever had a pet of any kind? How many years has it been since he has run anywhere, or was it only a case of those pesky 24-hour Trump bone spurs way back when. Were they ever removed? I’ve never heard an answer to that one! Kent Gendron Too narrow? Brooklyn: Note to Voicer Paul Bloustein: You said you “value personal freedom — defined as autonomy of choice and lack of external compulsion — more highly than other considerations.” Yet you, “as an independent, find the Republican Party more congenial.” Three questions, please: Would you feel the same if you were a woman? Would you feel the same if you were a hard-working immigrant? Does Vanderveer in Brooklyn in the 1960s sound familiar to you? Barry Brothers Circuitous route Staten Island: Every year, I spend weeks trying to get an appropriate bus route for my autistic son. Every year, they violate his individualized education program by assigning him a bus route exceeding the allowed length of time. I have rejected two routes since the first day of school because of the ridiculous length (and illegality) of his ride. The bus driver told me that he has children on the bus that have a two-hour trip one way. Adults don’t have commutes that long, so why do children? And special education children at that! It is literally criminal what’s going on with the Office of Pupil Transportation. Have they not been investigated or even questioned about their incompetence? Dawn Vollaro Back on track Brooklyn: It was wonderful to see DJ LeMahieu win the final Phillies game, driving in all six runs. He’s been hurt the last two years (foot injury). Hopefully, my favorite player (two-time batting champ, Gold Glove Award winner) is back. Billy Somma Tangled web Brooklyn: I share the Daily News’ concerns about Mayor Adams’ ability to govern the city effectively amid the “flurry of federal investigative activity” into the suspect dealings of his officials and cronies (“What now? As Adams admin. hit with probes,” Sept. 15). Surely, it’s only a matter of time before the feds gather enough evidence to go after Adams directly, and surely, said cronies will be eager to flip on him to get leniency for themselves. But if Adams is temporarily unable to carry out his duties, First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright becomes acting mayor, but she and her live-in partner Schools Chancellor David Banks both just had their home raided by the FBI and their smartphones seized. This administration’s web of corruption and nepotism is so tangled, I don’t know what recourse New Yorkers have to get the leadership we deserve — until the day we can primary Adams out. Katherine Raymond Costs of enforcement Staten Island: There is way too much collateral damage to the public and law enforcement regarding fare-beating (“Bullets fly in subway,” Sept. 16). At $2.90 per ride, I suggest the MTA suck it up and add a column to their balance sheet titled “the cost of saving valued lives.” I can’t fathom having anyone harmed, maimed and/or killed over a measly $2.90. Where is the logic to this? With the costs allocated from our tax dollars, we ultimately pay for the arrest, arraignment, public defenders and so on. It just doesn’t make any sense. Myra Goodman Radio silence Kew Gardens: I’d like to thank David Hinckley for his article about the demise of WCBS-AM radio (“Tuning out WCBS 880 newsradio forever,” op-ed, Sept. 13). I am one of those many listeners who lost a “friend” when WCBS went off the air. I would say that I lost a lifetime friend since I have been listening to 880 since before it was an all-news station. My mother would play it on the radio when I was growing up. I remember when you also had musical and dramatic programming. I tell people that I heard more episodes of “Gunsmoke” on the radio than I ever saw on TV. I have been trying to listen to 1010 WINS but it is not the same. The people on WINS are professionals but seem impersonal. There was a warmth and comfort in the way the WCBS folks delivered the news. We have lost a vital informational link. Marie Roach Priced out Central Islip, L.I.: Billy Joel’s cheapest tickets on New Year’s Eve are about $153! In the nosebleed section! I can’t wait to see how many jerks go to support him with these ripoff prices. Thomas Sarc Online-only Manhattan: I don’t like shopping much, but I checked Macy’s online for some items I needed for my New York apartment. I found their prices reasonable — and they offered me a 25% discount. I ventured down for one of my extremely rare trips to Macy’s and escalated to the sixth-floor bedding department. I eventually located a knowledgeable cashier who instantly answered my questions. “We haven’t sold box spring covers in-store for three years — go online. As for shower curtain liners? You also must go online.” I’m constantly bumping into new realities in the world these days that I’m unprepared for. James A. Fragale
