Any leftover rain will end tonight, but patchy fog and clouds will hang around into Thursday morning. The coastal system causing all of the cloudy, dreary weather we've had this week won't be going far. It's expected to linger off the coast through Friday, but it should move far enough east that we begin to see improvements over the next few days. Drier weather is expected tomorrow, though a few spotty showers can't be ruled out. Clouds will be stubborn, and it will be tough to clear them out, but some sunshine should break out by tomorrow evening. Clearing finally gets a grip by Friday, with partly cloudy skies leading to a brief warmup into the lower 80s by the end of the week. Summer will give way to fall this weekend, and we're in for a treat weather-wise as the seasons change. Nearby high pressure will provide us with sunshine, and a backdoor cold front will usher in cooler air from the north. By Sunday and Monday, afternoon high temperatures will drop into the lower 70s, with overnight lows falling into the 50s. These temperatures won't change much heading into next week, but a warmup could take shape as the next storm system knocks on the door next Tuesday and Wednesday. Showers will start to pop back into the forecast during the middle of next week as this happens. 7-Day Forecast: Tonight: Cloudy with scattered showers early and patchy fog late.
