ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – The Urban League of Rochester celebrated several milestones in our nation's history while also hosting it's 5th Annual Interrupt Racism Summit with this year's theme – 'Honoring from Whence We Came.' The daylong event featured workshops, keynote speakers and a legacy luncheon recognizing ten people for their impact on the Rochester community. Also at this year's summit, participants recognized the 70th anniversary of the Landmark Brown versus The Board of Education decision and the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Acts. All of this to inspire education and empower. Held at the Joesph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center, the summit welcomed Ms. Cheryl Brown Henderson as the keynote speaker. Henderson is the youngest daughter of the late Reverand Oliver Brown who led the Landmark Brown versus Board of Education case that challenged segregation in public schools.
