CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Shawinigan Drive was temporarily closed from the Ludlow town line to the entrance of I-291 as crews worked to put out a car fire Wednesday night. The closure, announced by the Chicopee Police Department Wednesday evening around 9:15 p.m., affected both local and through traffic. No injuries were reported and authorities believe a mechanical issue could have caused the fire. We will provide updates as soon as new information becomes available.
