ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A Metropolitan Detention Center correctional officer is accused of raping an inmate and attempting to bring contraband into the detention center. Chevonne Culbreath was arrested on Tuesday after an inmate told police that she sexually assaulted him last month. 25-year-old man killed in South Valley, BCSO says The officer told investigators that the inmate was blackmailing her over a piece of candy she gave him that he wasn't allowed to have. She admitted to having sex with the inmate and picking up a package for him containing a cannabis product that she decided not to bring to him. She's facing charges for criminal sexual penetration and attempt to commit a felony. Culbreath is being held at MDC. The state has filed for pretrial detention.
