INDIANAPOLIS -- A man is in critical condition after being shot at a park on the northeast side of Indianapolis Wednesday night.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 8:32 p.m. to the 6900 block of E. 46th Street, the listed address for Gardner Park, on a report of a person being shot. IMPD said officers arrived and found an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he is in critical but stable condition, according to IMPD.
IMPD Capt. Rob Rider said detectives are currently at the park where they will continue speaking with witnesses and gathering additional evidence.
“Sadly enough, there seems to be a deterioration in our society. The moral fabric is just not what it was and it has led to a lot of violence in our city," said Rider.
As of this article's publication, officers have not detained a person of interest in connection to the shooting.
Rider reassured the public that there was no active threat to the surrounding area following the shooting.
