BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Iberville Parish Government announced that the Grosse Tete Bridge will reopen for temporary vehicle traffic after final testing on the bridge was completed. Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 24, the bridge will be open seven days a week from 5-10 a.m. and 1-10 p.m. According to the Iberville Parish Government, the bridge will close from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for barge traffic. The Iberville Parish Government said in a social media post, "While we requested a 4 a.m. opening, the Coast Guard needs this window for barge travel." The pedestrian ferry's last day of operation will be on Sept. 24, allowing residents to be able to retrieve their vehicles, according to the Iberville Parish Government. Officials said, "DOTD expects the final parts for bridge repairs to arrive in November, with 24/7 operations resuming possibly in December."
