COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A shelter-in-place order on the Ohio State University campus has been lifted after a report of a shooting Wednesday evening. The shooting was reported at approximately 6:20 p.m. on the 1500 block of North High Street. Ohio State University campus police said that as of 7:30 p.m., there were no victims or suspects found. Watch: Investigation continues into Ohio State campus shooting Police said the suspects are believed to have fled the area and that the shooting appears to be the result of an altercation between two people. While the shelter-in-place order has been lifted, campus police said a heavy patrol presence will remain in the area. “Obviously, a very serious incident that occurred in a very busy area as you can see in broad daylight at 6:18 in the evening," Columbus Police Sgt. Joe Albert said. "It’s very dangerous and shows that these individuals involved had no regard for anyone’s life out here.” Albert said investigators found multiple shell casings in the area and gunshots to two cars, a business' front window, and a sign on the sidewalk. The shooting happened in a very busy area where Ohio State students walk to class, pick up dinner, and hang out on the edge of campus. "I was just scared," Ohio State student Tairon Sheridan said. "I never saw nobody shoot at somebody. It just breaks my heart. "I was like, 'fireworks?" another student said. "But I'm like, 'That can't be.' It was rapid shots and kind of just saw them job by. I was like, 'Is that them?' but it had to be because they swerved off into a car." Some others were a bit shaken up that something like this could happen so close to a college campus. "It said, like, the suspect was running toward the Union and it's, like, that is campus, so it's just a lot of fear and uncertainty and stuff," students Isabella Rizzo and Evelyn Couch said. "I was a little terrified to know what would happen, so it was definitely a different type than I've ever had, as a senior, too, which is crazy." Anyone with any information is asked to contact Columbus police at 614-645-4545. This is the second shooting reported on or near the Ohio State University campus this week. On Monday, an altercation between two men not affiliated with the university resulted in one man suffering a gunshot wound to his leg and a second man, Richard Patridge, 31, charged with felonious assault. Patridge is also facing several other charges tied to other unrelated crimes.
