A use-of-force incident involving U.S. Customs and Border Protection prompted the Otay Mesa commercial border crossing to be closed for a few hours Wednesday morning, officials said. One person was reportedly injured, according to CBP. The person’s condition and extent of injuries were not released. No CBP personnel were hurt. CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility and the San Diego Police Department were investigating. No trucks were allowed to cross at the port for about 2½ hours before being reopened again. The closure did not affect other vehicle and pedestrian border crossing lanes. No further information on the incident or closure was immediately available. The Otay Mesa Port of Entry connects to state Route 905 on the U.S. side of the border. It is the busiest commercial port in California.
