San Diego police are investigating a homicide in East Village on Tuesday night. Officers responded to the first block of 14th Street at about 7:45 p.m. after reports of gunshots were heard in the area, according to the San Diego Police Department. When police arrived, they found a male down with gunshot and stabbing injuries. He was taken to a hospital, but was later pronounced dead, SDPD Lt. Jud Campbell said. The victim is described as a 53-year-old man. His name was not released. According to investigators, a group of people were gathered on the sidewalk when some sort of altercation broke out that led to the suspect shooting the victim and another suspect stabbing the victim, Lt. Campbell said. The suspects fled the scene in different directions. No other descriptions regarding the suspects.
