Former DC special police officer indicted for using unreasonable force in arrest

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- A former D.C. special police officer was indicted Tuesday for using unreasonable force against an arrestee.
Curtis Holloway, 65, was charged with one count of deprivation of rights under color of law for willfully using unreasonable force against an arrestee, obstruction of justice and assault with a deadly weapon.
Officials said that Holloway is accused of hitting a woman on the head with a gun in October 2023 while he was arresting her with no "legal justification."

The U.S. Department of Justice said the civil rights and assault charges each have a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. Obstruction of justice has a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
