VIRGINIA (DC News Now) -- The annual State Fair of Virginia is returning to the Commonwealth in less than 10 days, bringing fun for the whole family. The fair will be held Sept. 27 to Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Meadow Event Park, in Doswell. It will feature dozens of food options, concerts, educational expos, a petting zoo, a stunt show, a circus, competitions and more. Those interested in attending the fair can buy tickets in advance online for discounted prices until Sept. 26, according to the event's website. Gate admission for those 5 and older is $12, and unlimited ride wristbands (valid any one day) are $25.50. Tickets for those 5 and older can be purchased online during the fair for $15.50, and unlimited ride wristbands will cost $31.50. Fairgoers purchasing tickets at the gate will pay the highest price, with tickets for attendees 5 and older costing $16.50. Unlimited ride wristbands will cost $31.50 during the week and $34.00 during the weekends. Why Hispanic Heritage Month begins September 15th Children under four are always free. The fair even hosts a "Giant Veggie Weigh-off," where last year, Jason Loris, of Amissville, Va., won the world record for growing the heaviest butternut squash.
